IS THE SOURCE WORTH YOUR TIME?

Example:
__http://www.animalfactguide.com/__

1. Timeliness

  • Find out when the source was written, published, or put on the internet
  • We want to make sure the information is not dated, or old.
  • If you cannot find any dates, the information is probably not credible
  • Places to look: bottom of the page, top of the page by the author's name, a copyright section, reference page, or contact page
  • If your topic is from the past, confirm your information with at least two other sources and make sure it matches up.

2. Relevance

  • Look to see whether the information is helpful
  • Look to see if the information is too general or just the right amount
  • Do the facts on this webpage give you new information?
  • Will the information be useful to your project?

3. Efficiency

  • We have to make sure when we are researching that the website is organized and clearly laid out.
  • Is the information worth the effort?
  • How fast can you access the information you need?
  • Is the information well-organized including a table of contents, index, menu, and other easy-to-follow tools for navigation?
